Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art
Dates: 16.04 - 25.04. 2010 | Opening: 16.04.2010 19.00 - 21.00
In April 2010 Guyan Porter and Will Foster took up residence in The Centre for Contemporary Arts, Intermedia for a two week period. The artists created a laboratory, focusing on ‘making small print visible’, in the production of a series of texts, posters, interactive digital projections and research. CCA Intermedia was transformed into a publicly accessible centre for researching, reconsidering and re-presenting the enormity of small print and ambiguous text that floods contemporary society.
Part screen print studio, part office, part research centre, the space changed each day by a process of exploration and dialogue with visitors. Small print was contributed, selected, copied, blown up and displayed onto the walls through various methods.
A Catalogue edition of 10 prints where produced and exhibited in the space, each covering a different aspect of the small print. On the opening night the centre was activated by a team of uniformed workers, who developed systems, deconstructed texts and performed rituals to the printed word.
